Extreme Makeover Foreclosures

Another one bites the dust from the Extreme Makeover TV Show featuring Ty Pennington. The Wilford family of Encinitas California are now facing foreclosure.

At least four other families featured on the show have  been forced to sell their homes as they couldn’t afford it in the first place. The idea of the show is great but the reality of home ownership is a tough cookie to swallow.

I have stated all along that the houses are too expensive. Some of these people have lived in dire poverty and you give them an expensive home, a suv and so forth. The woman (one) that they gave the vehicle couldn’t begin to afford gas, tires and upkeep on that type of vehicle. They have to pay for license plates to which are much cheaper for a smaller, energy efficient vehicle.( Not even the wealthiest can afford the expenses that go along with an suv…..) The poor don’t have the resources to continue paying not only the mortage, but all the other bills that go along with like one of the houses had 7 fireplaces. Not a necessity by any means, all the heat goes up the chimney. With these homes it is simple to get a equity loan. But then there is another bill they can’t pay. Comfortable simple homes would be sensible and practical. Beauty is nice sure, but unaffordable for the average Joe. It took a long time for the show to come to their senses. Bet the banks
    are having a hayday…

Please proofread your work. The sentence ‘At least four other families featured on the show have gone been forced to sell their homes’ is really, really bad. It doesn’t make sense.

    Thanks, and peace 🙂

It’s no wonder. You can’t give extremely poor people million dollar homes and expect them to be able to afford the maintenance, insurance and taxes. It’s ridiculous the homes these shows are building for just one family. With the resources that go into a single home, three families could each have a place to live, not posh, but still a home of their own.
