Jermaine Dupri Mansion Rescued from Foreclosure
Jermaine Dupri is a record producer, songwriter and hiphop artist. However, these days he is rapping to a different beat.
Dupri owns a huge property in Atlanta, Georgia. Once again, he rescued the home from foreclosure this week. The foreclosure auction was set for September 4th and the bank claims he missed $193,404 in mortgage payments.
Dupri asked the court to block the auction by filing an emergency motion. He said he only owes $89,901 and paid the bill in full by the time the motion was filed. At the last minute, the house was pulled off the auction block.
James Kane, Dupri’s attorney has responded (via TMZ) saying there was no foreclosure sale of the home and they are currently working with the lender to regarding the amount due.
American Idol Fantasia Barrino Avoiding Foreclosure
Fantasia Barrino, the talented American Idol star, is attempting to tuck away her financial troubles the right way. In 2009, she almost lost her North Carolina home to a foreclosure.
Recently, she listed the home for $800,000, which is almost $500,000 under what she paid. This 5-bedroom mansion with 38,768 sq ft was nearly lost in an auction when she supposedly defaulted on $58,000. She saved the home from the auction in eleventh-hour.
Chris Tucker Gets Rid of Two Florida Homes
Stuck in a financial hole, Chris Tucker decides to get rid of two homes in Florida that he owns.
The first property was an 8,861 sq-ft, 5-bedroom waterfront home in Lake County. This home sold for $2 million after the bank accepted the bid in a short sale. Reports say he owed $4.4 million. The property was originally purchased for $6 million.
The second property sold for $1.05 million. He was asking for $1.5 million. According to records, Tucker still owes Uncle Sam $11.5 million in back taxes.
Luckily, a new Friday movie is on its way with Tucker in the cast.
Gary Dourdan Facing Foreclosure
The former CSI actor, Gary Dourdan is facing foreclosure on his home. If his drug busts and domestic violence charges in 2011 were not enough, Dourdan is now adding foreclosure to his woes.
According to reports, the Venice, California home is behind on $61,558.90 (as of September 2011). The default was triggered when he missed a payment in July. He purchased the mansion in 2004 for $922,000.
R. Kelly’s Chicago Home Listed as a Short Sale
Over the summer, the famous R&B singer, R. Kelly was faced with a foreclosure suit for $2.9 million. He claimed this was a strategic foreclosure in efforts to arrange for a modification with the lender. Originally issued, the loan was originated for $3.5 million in 1999. Due to the current housing market, the home is worth less than what he owes.
R. Kelly wants to wash his hands of the mansion and listed the customized home for $1.595 million in a short sale. The home was built in 1997, and is located 30 miles outside of Chicago. The property sits on a private lot, which includes 22,000 square feet surrounded by a 12-foot concrete and wrought iron wall.
